Welcome Asselin Charles!



 Asselin Charles, Ph.D.









Asselin Charles received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He is Professor of Languages and Literary Studies and Director of Francophone Studies at Kwara State University in Ilorin, Nigeria. Previously, he has served as anAsociate Professor of Language and Literature at Mount Olive College.  His research and academic interests include Languages and Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Post-Colonialism, Caribbean literary history and culture (especially Haiti and Jamaica), Caribbean Literature, African Studies, African American Studies and African Diaspora Studies. He has published widely in these areas of research as well on Haitian culture and intellectual history. He is the translator of The Equality of the Human Races (2002) by Joseph-Anténor Firmin. He is currently working on the English translation of Franketienne’s masterpiece, Dezafi.
